Last year I bought an old motorcycle, an 1972 cb500. It was a piece of crap, and still is I guess but it's improving. I am doing a lot of custom stuff and I thought this was a cool process. I melted aluminum cans in a cast iron pan with some coal and cast it into a can buried in sand.I then turned it into this part that goes on the upper fork tube and holds up the shock boot. It was the lowest tech easiest way I could think to do it without having someone make it. I am going to put set screws around the bottom of it under the boot to hold it in place. It was cool, now I need to make another one.
